Applying for our courses

Before you decide to register for one of our courses, you need to know what you are aiming for. We cannot stress the importance of knowing how coaching works in the real world enough. This knowledge can guide you well enough to make the right choice.

Coaching Bodies
We have trusted three major coaching bodies to ensure the quality of the training we provide.

The Institute of Coaching (IoC) that provides the newest research and proof of the science-based value for our coaching. The IoC is also an affiliate of the Harvard Medical School. Learn more about the IoC here.

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) which offers an international framework for the coaching competencies required for one to become a professional coach, accreditation approving of the high standards of a coach training course and a Code of Ethics that we as coaches and trainers are expected to abide by to sustain professional practice.

The European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) that provides us with an additional framework with a detailed description of competencies focused more on the development of the coach as a human being and a professional, accreditation of coach training proving the quality of the programmes and a Global Code of Ethics stressing the importance of abiding by it so that coaching can maintain high levels of practice with integrity and professionalism.

To register for one of our courses, please take a look at the steps below.

how to register

Can we help you choose the best course to meet your needs? We want to make sure you feel confident about your decision. All you need to do is follow these simple steps.

STEP 1: GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE WEBSITE
All too often we have requests from students who want to become professional coaches but have forgotten to check the website. The reason we ask you to go through it before you apply is to make sure that we are a good fit for your needs and your personality. In coaching (as with other professions) personality matching matters the most. We try to ensure we are the best fit for you and you are the best candidate for us so we can make the best of our collaboration and time together.

STEP 2: CHOOSE YOUR LEVEL OF STUDY
Go through the description of our levels on the "Courses" page and acquaint yourself with the accreditations/credentials offered by the international and global coaching bodies (see above and below). Get to know how your studies will go. We have a guide with the learning and assessment components placed on a timeline. This will give you a clear picture of what time commitment you will be making. Also, acquaint yourself with the requirements the Academy has when it comes to Assessment. Once you have chosen your course of study, you are ready for the next step.

STEP 3: APPLICATION & PLACEMENT FORM
We need to know your experience in coaching or other courses you may have attended so that we can recommend the best course to meet your needs. You must complete the form before you book a consultation with an Academy representative.

NOTE: This is a lengthy application. Please have certificates, degrees, diplomas and all other academic information (transcripts, continuous professional development, extra courses) ready to fill in what is required. You will also need to write reflective notes on topics that will help us understand you better. If you have completed coaching hours, be prepared to submit these and a sample of your coaching. The more your provide us with, the better guidance and higher level you will be placed at.

STEP 4: RESERVE A CONSULTATION WITH US
We need to get to know you a little so that we can advise you on the best course to help you meet your objectives. You can book your appointment using our scheduling tool. Choose the time and date you wish based on the availability the representative has. After the consultation you will receive the Academy Charter. This is for you to go through in your own time. It includes all policies and procedures you need to be aware of prior to becoming part of our Academic Community. Book your free consultation here.

STEP 5: REGISTER ON THE NEUROPSYCHOLOGY FOR PROFESSIONALS COURSE
It is very important for us to ensure the highest quality of study and the best possible outcomes with your graduation. Our courses use concepts borrowed from the neurosciences. Before registering on any one course, we bring you up to date with the neuroscientific research and its relation to coaching. Understanding neuropsychology plays a major role in your success as a CEI Coach and in becoming a great professional. If you already have a certification or diploma related to the neurosciences, please do not forget to include it in your application in STEP 3.

CONCIERGE SERVICE
Our client concierge will answer any remaining questions you may have and will tell you about the different payment options available so that you can purchase your course. He will also direct you to the Fees and Refunds page so you are fully aware of your rights. Once you have purchased the course, you send your completed registration to concierge@coachingevolution.org.  That's it. You're enrolled!

levels of credentials
& course accreditation

Both the ICF and the EMCC offer various levels of accreditation and quality awards for training programmes. These levels depend on the hours each programme offers, the quality of the content (if and to what extent it is focused on training the competencies), and the credentials of the trainer. They also offer various levels of credentials for trained coaches depending on the type of accredited training they have completed and the hours of practice they have logged with real clients after completing the course.

The ICF levels

The ICF has three levels as regards experience and amount of knowledge: Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach(MCC).It offers three types of accreditation for a programme: the ACTP (Accredited Coach Training Program), the ACSTH (Approved Coaching Specific Training Hours), and the CCE (Continuing Coach Education). If you want to learn more about the accreditation types and levels, please visit the respective official ICF page here.

It has three paths a student can choose from to become credentialed.
- The first path is if you have completed an ACTP course, which is the most complete and fastest track to get your ACC or PCC credentials (MCC level is for much later).
- The second path is if you have completed and ACSTH course that requires a little more work to put your application together for your ACC or PCC credentials.
- The third path is the most difficult in a sense as it requires you to prove your level of training, experience and quality of coaching. This is the Portfolio path.

Should you feel the need to go deeper into the credentials offered by the ICF, please visit the respective official ICF page here.

the emcc levels

The EMCC has four levels as regards experience and amount of knowledge. These are the European Individual Award (EIA) for the Foundation Level (level 3 on the Qualifications Framework), the Practitioner Level (level 5 on the Qualifications Framework), the Senior Practitioner Level (level 7 on the Qualifications Framework) and the Master Practitioner Level.

When it comes to accreditation / award levels for coach training programmes, they are the same as the EIA levels, depending on hours and level of training for the competencies offered by the programme. The programmes may receive the European Quality Award (EQA) for the levels of Foundation, Practitioner, Senior Practitioner and Master Practitioner. If you want to read more about the EMCC EQA levels for a training programme, please visit the respective official EMCC page here.

Depending on the type of programme a student has attended, you can apply for the level of credential you have completed, i.e. if you have attended a Practitioner level programme, then you can apply for an EIA Practitioner or Foundation, but you cannot apply for Senior Practitioner unless you decide to take the slow track.

As with the ICF Portfolio path, anyone who can prove their knowledge, skills and experience according to the criteria outlined per body, can apply for an EIA credential via the portfolio track. Should you wish to read more about the EMCC EIA levels as regards your credentials, please visit the respective official EMCC page here.
